Pre-school (3-5 years) – adult to child ratio 1:8
Toddington Nursery School follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
The EYFS is designed to help early years practitioners to provide appropriate play experiences to enable your child to develop in all areas.
It enables staff to recognise your child’s strengths and areas they need more support to develop new skills.
It ensures a consistent approach to care and learning from birth to the end of the Foundation Stage and has a play based approach.
Children should mostly develop the three prime areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage first. These are:
Communication and language
Personal, social and emotional development
These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning.
As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in four specific areas. These are:
Understanding the world
Expressive arts and design
This means that each member of staff has a group of children for whom they are particularly responsible. Your child’s key person will be the person who works with you to make sure that what we provide is right for your child’s particular needs and interests.
These are full of your children’s pictures and artwork, and photos of your child enjoying their time at our setting. They are a great way to keep a record of your child’s learning and progress and celebrate their achievements. These are followed on through out the nursery and are available for you to look at, at any time.
These give parents information about their child’s day, including important facts such as what they have eaten, when they have slept and what they have done throughout the day. There is also a space for parents/carers to write comments about what your child has done/achieved at home.
In Pre-School there is a board in the cloakroom that outlines our day.
